Parents express gratitude for Catholic school experiences

The following letters were penned by parents who wanted to make known how pleased they were with their childrens’ Catholic schools and teachers in the Diocese of Trenton.

Beloved teacher brings dedication every day

St. Raphael’s is lucky to have Mrs. Cwirko. Words cannot express how wonderful a gift God has given us in her.

Mrs. Cwirko is one of a handful of people we’ve known who live their life as God intended, with caring, compassion and the courage to fight for what she believes in.

We are all tested in our personal lives on a daily basis, but from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year, Mrs. Cwirko and her dedicated, loving, caring staff also take on the task of helping our children understand and apply God’s teachings to their lives.

Women are often expected to be “on,” ready with a smile and a compliment, in spite of the fact that they sometimes carry the weight of the world on their shoulders.  Mrs. Cwirko is a daughter, a wife, and a mother, facing the same day-to-day issues as every other woman.  The only difference is, on top of that, she is also taking on the responsibility of protecting and nurturing our most precious gift from God, our children; and she does an amazing job!  No matter what she has going on in her personal life, Mrs. Cwirko is ALWAYS there for our children and FOR US!

When we came to St. Raphael’s last year, we were coming from a very bad situation at another school and Mrs. Cwirko not only welcomed us with open arms, but she promised us our daughter would thrive, and she has. Being at St. Raphael’s school under Mrs. Cwirko’s watchful eye has allowed our daughter to return to the kind, loving, considerate, joyful little girl she was before enduring the experience which brought us to St. Raphael’s and we could never thank Mrs. Cwirko enough for giving us that gift.

Our daughter has a very real and honest affection for Mrs. Cwirko because to this day, she continues to watch over her as she does all of the other children, and she’s able to do that day in and day out because she gets it. That’s the only way we can describe how we feel, she gets it. She understands what it means to be a parent first, which allows her to share in our greatest joys and sorrows. She has a true open door policy which we have taken advantage of on several occasions ... she not only listens, but she cares, for our children and for us.

When driving to St. Raphael’s last year to meet with Mrs. Cwirko, we almost cancelled our appointment and turned the car around, because we were trying to get out of a bad situation at a Catholic school and had lost a lot of faith. We thank God every day we decided to continue to that meeting because Mrs. Cwirko and the staff at St. Raphael’s have been a blessing to us and our daughter.

As the school year is coming to a close, we wanted to be sure to let you know how much we appreciate Mrs. Cwirko for all she has done, and continues to do for us and our daughter, including helping us to regain some of the faith we thought we’d lost.

Praise for OLS Mercerville

My son Jakob Papiez recently graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows School in Mercerville.

Our Lady of Sorrows is a wonderful school! On the day Jakob shadowed he said OLS felt like family and he couldn’t wait to start!

As they called Jakob’s name at OLS graduation I thought back ... every accomplishment starts with a decision to try ... in 5th grade Jakob decided to try Catholic middle school and never looked back … overall Our Lady of Sorrows has been a wonderful experience ... the classes are small so the teachers can really focus on the students … as an alumnus I can attest the only downside is the classes are small so the teachers can really focus on the students.

He was so grateful for the opportunity to attend... graduation was like leaving home ... isn’t that all you can ask for as a parent? Luckily we live nearby and Jakob is already planning on returning to assist with soccer when he is in high school!

Jakob is prepared for high school even if I am not, lol! Thank you for a wonderful middle school experience; Our Lady of Sorrows offers a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend to others!

Grateful parent...
Judith Papiez
