Exposing the lies in the Planned Parenthood debate

Planned Parenthood has succeeded for now.   As a result of the nearly unanimous support of Democratic Senators, the Senate blocked a vote on a bill (S1881) which would have defunded Planned Parenthood.

Democratic Senators defended Planned Parenthood by claiming that the defunding of Planned Parenthood would deny poor women healthcare.  This is not a truthful argument.   Poor women would not lose access to healthcare.  If S1881 had passed and become law, it would have protected and expanded the availability of women’s health care by defunding Planned Parenthood and taking taxpayer dollars that had been slated for their abortion business and redirecting those dollars to agencies that provide legitimate women’s healthcare.

Some defenders of Planned Parenthood also argue that defunding of Planned Parenthood would prevent Planned Parenthood from providing mammograms.  This is another false argument.  Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms but simply refers its clients to other agencies that do provide that service.

Also, it is interesting to note that Planned Parenthood routinely uses sonogram imaging when performing abortions to assure that undamaged baby body parts would be available, yet it has consistently lobbied against legislation that would allow a woman to view a sonogram image of her baby before undergoing an abortion.

Taxpayer funding of abortions should be ended immediately, and the U.S. Department of Justice should thoroughly investigate Planned Parenthood to determine if they have broken any laws.  And, if found guilty, they should be held accountable.
