Celebrate San Gennaro Feast with live Catholic radio broadcast at Leonardo's II restaurant

Italian food and Catholic traditions will meet Sept. 22 at Leonardo’s II in Lawrenceville, where Catholic radio apostolate Domestic Church Media will broadcast its TGI Friday LIVE show from 4 to 6 p.m.

Msgr. Sam A. Sirianni, pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold, will be a special guest speaker during the broadcast. He will speak about Italian saints and their feasts, Italian festivals and food.

Catholic Relief Services' film looks to change concept of world's orphanages

BALTIMORE • Catholic Relief Services has released an emotion-filled video as a way of starting a conversation about the world’s orphanages.

Children no longer end up in orphanages in the United States, and officials at CRS want a world where there is no longer a need for such institutions.

They are not advocating shutting down orphanages in poor countries and turning the children out onto the streets. CRS officials said their vision is to transform orphanages in countries like Haiti and South Sudan into family resource centers, offering families the support they need to keep their children at home.

Sacred music workshop in Allentown parish

St. John the Baptist Parish, Allentown, will hold a sacred music workshop Sept. 9 at the church.

The workshop, titled “Exploring the Music and Teachings of the Catholic Church,” will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. and be presented by Peter Carter, parish music director for the Extraordinary Form. Mass will be celebrated at 5:15 p.m.
