Diocesan Festival Choir, Red Bank musicians to perform 'Magnificat'

From staff reports

The combined choirs of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Red Bank, will join the Diocesan Festival Choir and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia for a special Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 121 Bridge Ave.

The choirs will present English composer John Rutter’s “Magnificat,” also known as the “Song of Mary” or the “Canticle of Mary.” The text of the canticle is taken directly from the Gospel of Luke, where it is spoken by Mary upon the occasion of her Visitation to her cousin, Elizabeth.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students. For more information, call 732-747-0813.
