An immersive, limited-run exhibit of museum-quality, near life-size reproductions of Michelangelo’s famous ceiling frescoes that adorn the Sistine Chapel in Rome is coming to the Garden State.
“Up Close: Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel” will run from Sept. 1 to Oct. 15 in Paramus and allows visitors to experience the iconic master’s work from the Vatican, reproduced to near original size and giving viewers an ideal vantage point from which to observe the artist’s masterpieces. Through 34 reproductions, this presentation of pieces such as “The Creation of Adam” and “The Last Judgement” brings audiences face-to-face with the artwork.
The exhibit, which is only traveling to eight cities in the United States, will be open daily at the Westfield Garden State Plaza, 1 Garden State Plaza, Paramus, Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ticket prices start at $15 and are available in advance at www.westfield.com/upclose. Day-of tickets are available at the box office. Special rates for students, seniors, members of the military and for parties 10 or more are also available.
An optional audio guide, with narrative accompaniment available in four languages, can be purchased for $3 and are included in advance ticket packages online or at the box office.
The presentation is a licensed exhibition of SEE Global Entertainment, a LA-based exhibition production company that acquired the worldwide rights to the fresco reproductions originally photographed by world-renowned Austrian photographer Erich Lessing.
