Young adults invited to discuss Bishop Barron's 'Catholicism' series at West Windsor parish

Holy Week may be coming to a close this weekend, but the spiritual and artistic discussion series that began as a Lenten study in St. David the King Parish is far from over.

Since March 6, the young adult ministry in this West Windsor parish has been studying “Catholicism,” Bishop Robert Barron’s 10-part video series that gives viewers an around-the-world lesson in faith. Filmed on 50 locations in countries such as Rome, Israel, Germany and Spain, the video explores the rich traditions, culture, art and beliefs of the Catholic faith.

Young adult media enthusiasts are getting the chance to let their creativity shine in competition for the annual John Cardinal Foley Award in Social Communications.

Presented by the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa., the contest is open to non-professional young adults ages 18-25 and takes place throughout the month of April.

Teens give time, friendship to St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish food pantry clients

Deacon David Colter surveyed the 20 or so teens who gathered March 18 to help distribute food in the parish center of St. Raphael Church.

“The kids really want to give back and serve their communities,” he said as youngsters from the Life Teen youth ministry based in St. Raphael-Holy Angels Parish volunteered their morning for Reach Out Saturday – an opportunity for those in need to receive items from the parish food pantry at the Hamilton church.

Boy and Girl Scouts awarded for faith and service

Catholic Boy and Girl Scouts from around the Diocese were recognized for their faith and community service March 5 during the annual Court of Honor awards ceremony in Epiphany Parish, Brick. Some three dozen youth and their adult Scouting leaders were presented with awards by pastor and diocesan Scouting chaplain Father Michael A. Santangelo.
