The Torch youth ministry group in St. Dominic Parish has been putting in a tremendous amount of community service over the past months. From coat drives and pasta dinners to letter-writing campaigns and helping the homeless, there seems to be no task too small for the Brick parish’s teens.

“I am thankful that I am able to participate in all of these service opportunities,” said Jeffrey Frankenburg, a 13-year-old youth ministry member. “I know that I am very lucky to have what I have, and I like that I can give back while having fun with my friends.”

Rambling Spirit Column: Renouncing relativism, the philosophy of self
We are in a philosophical crisis, and it is caused by too much self-interest. This leads to us thinking a great deal about one another as well, which sounds good until we realize that our impetus for doing so comes from the same dangerous philosophy of self.

We are so interested in not offending one another that we avoid speaking truth due to its tendency to often offend people. God, being truth, subsequently falls into a very inconvenient corner of our conversations.

Little did he know what a noble purpose awaited him when Don Ritchie settled into a house on Old South Head Road back in 1964. The former Navy seaman and retired salesman was eager to soak in the stunning view with his wife: an ocean cliff at Watsons Bay in Eastern Sydney known as The Gap. More ...

Rambling Spirit Column: True friendship the key to having a relationship with God
My friend Jerry loves to work out. He knows all the best exercise routines and has made staying in shape into an admirable hobby. He also loves his Catholic faith, and somewhere along his spiritual journey, he noticed that he was spending a lot more time exercising than he was with God. His faith life suffered as a result. More ...
