From staff reports

Dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor through the art of sacred music, Caritas Chamber Chorale will present a series of Christmas concerts to benefit the Adorno Fathers’ African Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The concerts, titled “Sing, O My Love,” will present a variety of choral a cappella Christmas pieces. Chant, early American music and carol arrangements, as well as newer choral works will be included.

Featured will be Estonian composer Arvo Part’s “2007 Morning Star,” English composer Robert Lucas Pearsall’s acclaimed 1838 arrangement of “In dulci jubilo,” and contemporary artist Dale Grotenhuis’ setting of “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day,” whose text provides the concert with its title.

In addition, the Caritas Chamber Chorale will perform choral conductor Reid Masters’ arrangement of “O Holy Night.” Masters graduated from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, with bachelor and master degrees in sacred music.

In the Diocese of Trenton, the concert will be held at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 16 in Princeton Abbey, 75 Mapleton Road, Princeton. Other performances scheduled are 7:30 p.m., Dec. 15, Our Lady of the Mount Church, 167 Mt. Bethel Road, Warren; and 7 p.m. Dec. 17, Our Lady of Peace Church, 630 Amboy Ave., Edison.

A freewill offering will benefit the Gianni Diurni Primary School, run by the Adorno Fathers’ St. Francis Caracciolo Mission in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa. The school educates children 3 to 11, who might otherwise not have access to education, and also feeds them one meal per day.
