Allentown parish to host Italian Festival this weekend

All are invited to a free Italian Festival Sept. 15-16, 6 – 10 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish, Allentown, on parish grounds at 1282 Yardville-Allentown Road. Both evenings include free Italian food, a wine garden, live entertainment, photo booth, face painting, bounce house and more.

Friday night’s entertainment will include Jim Manfredonia, co-founder and radio host of Catholic apostolate Domestic Church Media, singing Frank Sinatra favorites, and the Philadelphia Mummers’ Fralinger String Band. Saturday will begin with 5:15 Mass and an outdoor procession with the Madonna, accompanied by The Verdi Band of Norristown. Additional entertainment will be provided by the DooWop group The Acchords.

Tickets will be sold during the festival for a Super 50/50 raffle; proceeds will go toward a $1500 college scholarship for a senior high school student of Italian descent in the Diocese of Trenton, as well as toward the cost of the festival.
