Funeral services for Constance Giampaolo set for March 11

Funeral services will be held March 11 in Sacred Heart Church, Riverton, for Constance  Giampaolo, the longtime chaplain and spiritual care director in Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, Willingboro, who died March5. She was 61.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing in Sacred Heart Church, 103 Fourth St., Riverton, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30.

Mrs. Giampaolo credited the Catholic education she received in Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia for instilling in her the passion to care for others. She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Neumann University, Aston, Pa., and a master’s degree in theology and pastoral ministry from LaSalle University, Philadelphia.

A resident of Palmyra, Mrs. Giampaolo joined Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in July 1990. As part of her duties as chaplain, she led a morning prayer broadcast over the hospital’s intercom and spent many hours devoting her time to offering words of encouragement to the patients. She also directed the hospital’s mission activities, helping to lead a parish nursing program and working closely with area churches and organizations such as Catholic Charities.  In 2012, she earned certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. One of her final activities was organizing the hospital’s annual Black History Month events which featured the Guiding Light gospel quartet.

Mrs. Giampaolo was predeceased by her husband Joseph. She is survived by her three sons, Joseph Matthew, Michael and Mark and a brother.

Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
