Registration open for annual CWOZ Rally in September

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will be the principal celebrant at a 10 a.m. Mass Sept. 15 during the annual Catholic Women of Zion Women’s Rally.

The rally, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school gym of Holy Family Church, 1139 East County Line Rd., Lakewood, will focus on the theme “Come, Follow Me.”

Praise and worship will be led by Joyful Praise, with additional music provided by Diocesan BLD Philippine Music Ministry. The rally will also include healing prayers, a performance by Maki Polish Children’s Dance Group and vendors.

This year’s CWOZ rally will feature three speakers: international evangelist Maria Vadia, evangelist Colleen Kelly-Rayner, and co-founder of CWOZ Mary Ann Collett.

Vadia, a Florida-based charismatic author of several books and prayer leader, was born in Havana, Cuba. At the age of 10 she and her family fled to Miami, Fla., to escape the Communist regime in her home country. In spite of a Catholic education, Vadia’s real conversion came during her marriage to a wealthy man, when she realized that all her material possessions could not fill the void in her life. Realizing “something was missing,” she made the decision to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and dedicate her life to preaching the Gospel.

Active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Vadia has spoken at charismatic conferences worldwide, including the United States, the Caribbean, Malta, Ghana, New Zealand, Canada, India, and many more. She is founder of the Jesus Is Lord chapter of Magnificat in Miami, a ministry for Catholic women, and is connected with Glory House of Miami, a safe haven for human traffic victims. She has four children and nine grandchildren.

Kelly-Rayner, married mother of twins and member of St. Veronica Parish, Howell, is a full-time Catholic lay evangelist. In 1991 she experienced a major conversion in Medjugorje, and at age 24 she entered the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, being fully received into the Church the following Easter Vigil.

Kelly-Rayner left her job as a corporate trainer for a restaurant chain to pursue working in ministry, beginning as a parish youth minister. She went on to become a retreat coordinator, and eventually a national speaker at conferences, retreats, schools, parishes and diocesan events throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Collett co-founded CWOZ in 1989 with Father John Campoli, a priest of the Voluntas Dei Institute and founder of His Love Ministries. A commissioned lay minister, spiritual director and clinical social worker, Collett has a master of social work degree in clinical social work from Fordham University, New York, and a master of arts degree in theology from Georgian Court University, Lakewood. She currently serves as pastoral associate in St. Mary of the Lake Parish, Lakewood.

The CWOZ ministry, operating with approval of the Bishops of the Diocese of Trenton, has made its missios to serve the needs of women for physical, spiritual and emotional healing, as well as to provide a sense of connection that leads into a deeper, more wide-ranging experience of faith.

CWOZ currently has two chapters that meet throughout the year – one in Holy Family Parish, and the other in Pope Pius X Parish, Forked River. An outreach ministry has begun to provide retreats in other parishes in the Monmouth and Ocean County areas.

Admission is $35, and includes continental breakfast and box lunch. Participants must register in advance by Sept. 11 at www.CWOZ.org, or call and leave your phone number and spell your last name at 732-363-0139 ext. 777.
