Pilgrims reflect on the experience of Rome during the Year of Mercy

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., and other pilgrims from the Diocese of Trenton, arrived in Rome just as Pope Francis released his widely-anticipated apostolic exhortation “Amoris Lætitia (The Joy of Love).” Bishop O'Connell, seen meeting with the Holy Father in the above photo, called the document "rich with scripture and tradition" and encouraged faithful in the Diocese to read the document carefully so as “truly enrich marriage, family, human and Christian life in our world.”  Photo courtesy Servizio Fotografico

With an itinerary that included a Papal Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday in St. Peter’s Basilica and visits to the tombs of saints and other holy sites of Italy, nearly 40 pilgrims of the Diocese of Trenton witnessed the Year of Mercy unfolding in the heart of Rome.
