WASHINGTON – March for Life organizers announced in a Dec. 6 briefing a tentative group of speakers, a theme and other details for a Jan. 18 conference and expo and Jan. 19 march and rally in Washington.
Entries are now being accepted for the Diocese’s annual Respect Life Poster, Essay and Photo-Meme Contest for kindergarten through eighth grade.
The 2017-2018 contest theme is “Be Not Afraid.” Participation is open to children enrolled in Catholic grammar schools, parish religious education programs, junior youth programs and home-schooled students.
In recognition of October being Respect Life Month, Life Chains were held throughout the country as quiet witness for the dignity of human life. In the Diocese of Trenton, one such demonstration was held outside St. Veronica Parish, Howell, Oct. 1 on busy Route 9. Educating the community about alternatives to abortion and resources that are available to women in unplanned pregnancies was the focus of a Respect Life gathering held Sept. 28 in St. Monica Parish, Jackson.
Entitled “Sanctity of Life: Alternatives to Abortion,” the event was hosted by the St. Monica Council Knights of Columbus as part of a kick-off to Respect Life Sunday, which was observed Oct. 1. The evening featured a talk by John White, community director for the council, who gave a presentation on abortion facts.
WASHINGTON – The theme for the 45th annual March for Life will be "Love Saves Lives: Life Is the Loving, Empowering and Self-Sacrificial Option."
The March for Life Education and Defense Fund announced the theme for the 2018 rally and march at a briefing on Capitol Hill Oct. 3 with Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life organization and other pro-life leaders in Washington.
"We march for life because abortion is a horrific human rights travesty," said Mancini.
