March for Life events in Freehold, Trenton, Washington promote pro-life stance

Faithful of the Diocese of Trenton will have numerous opportunities to be part of the 45th annual March for Life, the world’s largest pro-life demonstration, through Masses and other events being held within the Diocese as well as the march Jan. 19 in Washington, D.C.

Under the theme “Love Saves Lives,” more than 100,000 are expected to descend on the nation’s capital for the noon march. Closer to home, faithful in the Diocese of Trenton may show their love for life in all its forms at events slated for Jan. 18 and Jan. 22.

Plenary indulgence offered for those taking part in March for Life celebrations
In a letter sent to all U.S. bishops Dec. 20, Cardinal Donald Wuerl of the Archdiocese of Washington and Bishop Michael F. Annual K-8 Respect Life Contest now accepting posters, essays, memes

Entries are now being accepted for the Diocese’s annual Respect Life Poster, Essay and Photo-Meme Contest for kindergarten through eighth grade.

The 2017-2018 contest theme is “Be Not Afraid.” Participation is open to children enrolled in Catholic grammar schools, parish religious education programs, junior youth programs and home-schooled students.

Life Chains in Diocese promote sanctity of life
In recognition of October being Respect Life Month, Life Chains were held throughout the country as quiet witness for the dignity of human life. Respect Life gathering in Jackson explores alternatives to abortion

Educating the community about alternatives to abortion and resources that are available to women in unplanned pregnancies was the focus of a Respect Life gathering held Sept. 28 in St. Monica Parish, Jackson.

Entitled “Sanctity of Life: Alternatives to Abortion,” the event was hosted by the St. Monica Council Knights of Columbus as part of a kick-off to Respect Life Sunday, which was observed Oct. 1. The evening featured a talk by John White, community director for the council, who gave a presentation on abortion facts.

'Love Saves Lives' theme for 2018 March for Life

WASHINGTON – The theme for the 45th annual March for Life will be "Love Saves Lives: Life Is the Loving, Empowering and Self-Sacrificial Option."

The March for Life Education and Defense Fund announced the theme for the 2018 rally and march at a briefing on Capitol Hill Oct. 3 with Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life organization and other pro-life leaders in Washington.

"We march for life because abortion is a horrific human rights travesty," said Mancini.
